Goresbrook batted first and posted 199-7 which was a good score against a solid Bishops Stortford bowling performance.
Gillard 2-31, Lloyd 0-20, Wacey 1-36
In reply, Adam Bassingthwaighte (74) and Stuart Felstead (58) provided a good platform putting on 117 for the second wicket. Needing just 25 to win from 5 over we felt comfortable. Then with only 9 needed from the last 2 overs things were looking good but with the penaltimate over only going for 3 runs, 6 were required from the last over. However, with some good death bowling in the block hole it came down to the last ball where we needed 4 to win and 3 to tie. We only managed to run two and fell short by 1 run.
A close game and one which we should have won if I am honest. But the positives were that Adam who is still only 16, batted very well scoring boundaries on both sides of the wicket. Had I not have retired him with 8 overs to go, to get more players involved in this warm up game, then I am sure he would have seen us home.
